Rex Parris, a lifelong member of this community, truly understands its essence – the close-knit families, the drive for innovation, and the faith in each other that helps the vulnerable. He knows that genuine transformation comes from listening to the voices of everyday people and standing alongside them.
Dear Neighbor,
I was born in Lancaster and I am honored to have earned your trust as the Mayor.
Together, we have made Lancaster’s city government more representative, diverse, effective, and accountable.
As the Mayor, I have worked hard to create innovative solutions to meet our city’s challenges.
For instance, when Los Angeles County officials refused to provide adequate staffing to our Lancaster Sheriff’s station, we created our own Lancaster Police Department to fill the crime-fighting gap and strengthen law enforcement protection for our neighborhoods.
Likewise, when the COVID epidemic struck, we opened an emergency operations center in the earliest stages of the epidemic, including a field hospital at the AV Fairgrounds, to provide residents with the highest level of medical care. To this end, I appointed two physicians as Deputy Mayors to provide Lancaster with immediate medical expertise and advice.
We also established a more business-friendly approach to attract needed jobs while making Lancaster a nationally recognized leader in clean energy technology.
Additionally, we created citizen oversight and advisory committees to give residents a stronger voice in charting the direction of our city.
While we still have challenges to overcome, such as reducing homelessness, I am optimistic about the future we are building for our city. With your continued support, we can make Lancaster an even better place to live, work, worship, and raise our families.
